New Year, new me!

I am going to start offering many more pre-made cloth items. The custom listings will always be there, but I am going to start carrying inventory since I have been blessed with so many sales. Carrying an inventory will pretty much eliminate any wait time for orders to ship. Hopefully everyone enjoys the new changes.

Today is a sad day. I am frustrated to report that another Etsy seller is copying my images and listings. If you are looking to purchase my items, please double check that the selling shop is , formerly

I have reported the shop to Etsy, but it takes awhile for the process to be completed.

Fall Cleaning of Etsy Shop

Hello all! Today I started the process of "cleaning" my Etsy shop. I have deleted any duplicate listings for the same items to make shopping easier. Since I deleted almost 30 listings, your favorites might have gone away. The next time you use your Etsy account, you may need to stop by my shop and remark the listings you like.
If I can help, just let me know.

I am now color matching the snaps to the pads, free of charge. They will no longer be just white if you choose the poly-resin. I love these snaps. They have held up really well on my trail set. I haven't had one fail yet & I have been using them for over a year.

Going, Going, Gone..

14 orders shipped out today :) It was a busy weekend, but hopefully everyone is happy with the turn around time. I am trying to get my ship time down to one week. It's a challenge, but I think doable.

Update with cloth diapers. I have the patterns ready. I am making cloth diapers that you use with a cover. I think they are the easiest to use. I may sell the covers & AIO's later on, but right now, just the cloth diapers with your choice of snaps, velcro, or no fasteners at all. I am ordering the supplies now, so they should be for sale sometime in September.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Today, a slight delay

Well, today I had my eyes dialated for the first time. I can't see anything. I can barely see to type this, so if there are mistakes, I apologize. I am taking a night off from sewing, but will make up for it this weekend. I apologize if your order is slightly delayed for the circumstance. I will have everything caught up for Monday's pick up.

Cloth Diapers, Coming SOON!

My venture to make and sell cloth diapers is getting closer. I have finally drafted a pattern that works well to fit the shape of my little girl. I am now testing materials & absorbency. I think I am going to sell them as a basic AIO diaper with an added diaper doubler set. This way you can customize to your little one's needs. They would have PUL in them as the waterproof membrane. I can also make them with no PUL but you would have to use a diaper cover.

If anyone is interested in doing a product trial for me, please let me know. I would like to get a few road tested before I actually list them for sale.

I'm finished nursing, now what do I do with these pads??

Okay, so you spent however long with a little one nursing. Now you are left with these nursing pads you probably have used everyday. They still should be in perfectly usable condition, but now you don't have a need. Well, I have come up with ways to keep using your nursing pads long after you have finished breast feeding.

Idea 1:
You can use them as cotton rounds to apply toner & remove make-up. They are larger than the ones I specifically make for this, but work well. I use my old nursing pads for this and they are working just fine. (I tried both the normal & the leak proof)

Idea 2:
Your little one will like playing memory games soon. You can use them on the floor to play any combination of memory since they all have the same backing and are in pairs. My son loves playing this game. The great thing is if the kids are playing with them and a younger sibling starts chewing on them, the game isn't ruined. Also, they don't hurt to step on them & you can throw them in the washing machine if they get gross.

Idea 3:
Blotting cloths. Yes ladies, we can save so many trees by using blotting cloths instead of T.P. when we just need to blot. If you already use cloth menstrual pads, these are a breeze. There isn't any special instructions, just wash with normal laundry since they just have minimal urine on them. One study I read said you could reduce toilet paper usage by up to ninety percent by using blotting cloths.

Idea 4:
Coasters. You picked cute patterns you like to look at, why not use them as coasters and keep enjoying them. Plus, you can laugh when people ask you where you got such cute coasters.

Idea 5:
Donate them to a women's shelter. New moms with limited means would love to have these items to use with their new little ones, but don't have the means to attain them. Sharing them will hopefully encourage women to breast feed their new ones.

These are just a few ideas I have come up with. If you have any ideas, please share them with me.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, 10 Steps I'm taking towards being Green

I know I make things to help reduce waste and help live life a little bit more respectful of the planet. I am also trying to take steps to be as Eco-friendly as possible with business practices.

Step 1: Use the heat wave here in Ohio to my advantage. I am currently hanging all of my fabrics out to dry in the warm sun. They are drying super fast & I am not using the dryer. (Helps keep the house cooler + no energy wasted)

Step 2: I am washing multiple yards of fabric together. Instead of doing each fabric in a separate load, I wash all fabrics for the business together in fewer loads. (Using less water & energy)

Step 3: I do not include a copy of the invoice in the package when shipped. Most people just throw this away anyways. (reduced paper consumption by half)

Step 4: I use tissue paper to wrap my items so that it can by recycled upon arrival.

Step 5: I use fabric scraps down to 3" & I sell all scrap batting in bulk for others to use. (Less trash)

Step 6: I buy in bulk to reduce trips to the store or deliveries to my house. (less fuel consumption)

Step 7: No trash bags!! Nothing I throw away needs to have a bag, so I empty straight into the dumpster what little I do throw away. This saves 1 trash bag a week from the landfill.

Step 8: No lights during the day. If you come to my house during the day, you won't find any lights on. When we do have to use lights, we use CFL's (disposed of appropriately when burnt out)

Step 9: I mail all domestic packages through USPS directly from my home (saves fuel from trips to the post office daily)

Step 10: I make my own laundry soap to wash all materials with. (reduce consumption of consumer goods)

A Great Use for the flannel "wipes"

Well, lately I have been trying to "go green" even more in the house. I hate buying disposable tissues, but my husband has severe allergies. I loved the idea of using something over again, but didn't like hankies. The germ factor kinda grossed me out. The solution I came up with is to just use the flannel wipes. They work great! The benefits are endless. The major one we've noticed is that they are so soft against the skin. No more raw noses. I used these in the past when my son was sick, but never thought to use them all the time.
They were really easy to set up. I have a can for dirty liners, blotting cloths & face scrubbies in the bathroom, so we just added these to it. I keep a stack in the normal places for tissues. When we use one, we just place it in the dirty laundry. After all my other stuff is dirty and ready to be washed, I wash everything and start over again. No more disposable tissues :) The other benefit is that I used cute fabrics that matched the rooms. (they make a cute decoration in a basket)
My husaband even likes the change! He wouldn't use the same one over and over again, but this way, it's just like a disposable, but washable!

Thinner Design!!!

I am SO excited!!! I have been researching the best way to increase absorbency in my pads while making them thinner. I have found the solution. This will make ordering pads from my shop much simpler! I am running a sale to promote the new pads this month. I will be updating the shop tomorrow with the new listings. The shapes will be the same, but you don't have to worry with trying to figure out what flow to buy. One pad will now cover everything from a medium flow to a heavy flow. I think these are the best solution to date for a reasonable price.

New Materials...

I have been researching to find a way to make my heavy pads thinner. I think I may have found it. I am planning on using a microfiber terry cloth in combination with 1 layer of batting to continue to have the breathability. I have my samples made, but am "waiting" to use them. If anyone has any experience with using this material feel free to comment. These new pads should dry a lot quicker too.

New Fabrics!!

I just got my package of new fabrics. I am currently uploading 30 new fabric choices. I am so excited :) They are really pretty and different from past selections.

Price Changes

If you've noticed a change in my prices, they did go up slightly. This is because of the additional fees for being a business. I am not increasing the cost just for profit. This increase is just to cover the additional costs I now have to pay. I do not plan on changing the prices again, unless the cost increases in some way. My goal is still to provide a quality product at a reasonable price.

Going, going going....

I am working like a crazy woman. I am so excited! I have less than 30 orders left to finish! Also, there is a plan in the works to open a second shop in August. I am really excited about the newest shop. I think it will be great!! I will have more information and links in the future, but right now the shop is being designed.

Almost there!

Today I mailed out 12 packages. I am getting closer and closer to the re-opening of the shop. I can't wait to open again all caught up. My husband has been a huge help cutting and preping things for me to make. I can't imagine what I'd do without him!

Getting Closer...

This weekend put me a little closer to the finish line. Several orders were shipped out & I have several more ready to sew. I can't wait until everything is mailed & I can re-open. I have many ideas in the works of new items I want to make and sell :) July is only a few weeks away!

Backed up....

Another day to catch up. This all started back in September. My sales took off (which I am extremely grateful for) the same month I had my daughter. It was completely unexpected. Since then, I have slowly fallen behind. I decided this month to put my shop in "vacation" and get everything caught up so people don't have to wait so long for their stuff. My son told me this morning,"Time for Mommy to go to work!". He drug me out of bed to my sewing machine and proceeded to watch and make sure I was "working".
